THE CHEF - THE OCEAN

Eric Simi, otherwise known as The Chef, is an 18 year old producer hailing from Turin, Italy. One of his first original tracks, The Ocean, lays down some fluid piano that makes for easy listening. ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - INGENIA

Composed of Jordi van Burgel and Wouter van den Boogaard, Ingenia hails from the Netherlands. And honestly, that is about all we can dig up about these guys. They say that you've "made it" as a music producer when you have your own wikipedia page, and while these guys may not have that yet, someone should start to look into it. Over the past few months they have released hit after hit, reaching for top spots in iTunes, Beatport, and EDM charts across the world. Listen to their stuff, check out their Soundcloud, and you'll understand why.

ARTIST HIGLIGHT - DEFICIO

We think that Deficio is under-appreciated. Go ahead and Google him. The majority of hits will come up for with information on Martin "Deficio" Lynge - a professional League of Legends player.

 That's not who we're talking about. We're talking about Deficio, the 20 year old Swedish producer who has come on the scene in a huge way considering his facebook says he only "gained interest in music production in 2011." 

We see artists who wait for 10 years before being noticed for one single. Everything this guy puts out could be his new single. Give a listen to his original productions and remixes and you'll understand why. He is a master of a variety of generes and does not necessarily stick to just one like we see from many artists. Whether it is melbourne bounce, reggae bounce, house, or big room, he can do no wrong. The guy has remixed Beethoven! His tracks are those ones you hear blended into mixes at huge festivals and he tends to fly under the radar.  He announced to his 2,000 Twitter followers that he has a new two-track EP coming in September which we will be sure to update you on. AFROJACK & MARTIN GARRIX COLLABORATION

Two of the world's top DJs have teamed up together to work on a brand new track. With both Afrojack and Marting Garrix being known for their big drops, coupled with the new track being named "Turn Up the Speakers", we're expecting nothing short of huge. Give the preview a listen below.

NEW AVICII ALBUM

Avicii received a lot of flak and negative feedback when he first released his most recent album, True, as purists were saying that it was too "twangy" and did not stay true to the foundations of electronic music. Avicii laughed all the way to the bank as Top 40 radio embraced the new sound and his single "Wake Me Up" became the most streamed song on Spotify. 

Now, rumors show that he is again working to expand the limits of electronic music as Rolling Stone reported that his upcoming album will feature, Jon Bon Jovi, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Billie Joe Armstron, Wyclef Jean, Matisyahu, and Serj Tankian from System of a Down. The album is set to be released later this year and include over 70 songs Avicii has been working on. When asked, he said the album will "be a lot more song oriented", seeming to stick with the direction of the genre as a whole.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - DOM DOLLA

When we highlight a certain artist, we like to listen through most of their work and select a few of favorites to show all of you. With Dom Dolla we planned on doing the same thing but after about 2 hours of going through his Soundcloud, we couldn't decide which tracks we were into the most. So we made a playlist of ten. Yes, we are highlighting ten tracks from a guy whose biggest claim to fame so far is a remix for The Aston Shuffle. Can you guess where he is from? If you said Melbourne, Australia, you're right. There is something in the water out there. We would go say check out his Soundcloud, but we've pretty much uploaded all of it on the playlist below. The guy has his own unique twist for every track that keeps you guessing. He's got house, progressive, deep house, some funk, swing, and the kitchen sink. Check him out below.

BLONDESOUND - FOOLISH

Something we've noticed about writing about music is that our favorite song changes - every single day in fact. It needs to change though, because once we find it, we drive that thing so far into the ground we start to hate it. What's great about the world of EDM, though, is that there is never a shortage of artists, producers, or sounds, and that translates into a renewal of songs we thought we had cast off long ago. Cue Blondesound and their track Foolish. Adam Englefield and Jacob Manson, from the UK, put out one of our favorite songs a few months ago, and once the stems started to spread, the remixes started to flood in. We can't pick a favorite, but maybe you can. Listen to the tracks below and tweet us to let us know your favorite!

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - HANSEL THORN

Hansel Thorn is proof that DJ's seem to be getting younger all the time. Fortunately, with that youth comes the courage and freshness to try something new. Thorn is a 19 year old out of Bakersfield, CA who's style of EDM seems dependent upon the day. Give a listen to any one of tracks and it could turn out to be big room, progressive, chill, or something totally new...and that is what we love about him. Our favorite track "Shake It" was just named as one of the top ten tracks to have on your summer playlist by EDM.com. His most recent album is called Cairo and features tons of great tracks. Gryffin hails from New York and much like breakout star KYGO, Gryffin remixes tracks and keeps them at a sexy 100 BPM to create soulful, deep house masterpieces. JOSE GONZALEZ - STEP OUT (THE CHAINSMOKERS REMIX)

I've said it before and I'll say it again, The Chainsmokers can do no wrong. Just released on their Soundcloud is a a deep remix from Jose Gonzalez . The new track is a long way from their bouncy bass-heavy #SELFIE that they are known for. If you are looking for a soulful house groove, check out the track below. 

KASKADE REDUX EP

Kaskade's latest tour hasn't been full of his usual bass drops and festival anthems. His Redux tour puts on display his true abilities as an electronic music artist. The slower house jams are  have been exclusive to vinyl but he has recently released his Redux EP in a digital format. Among the tracks including "Ain't Gotta Lie" and "No One Knows Who We Are" are the stems for the former track. He has challenged fans to use the stems in order to take the original to a new level saying "I'd happily pass out the pieces of every song I've made for others to use. Remix that. Use that. DUBVISION - BACKLASH (MARTIN GARRIX EDIT)

Martin Garrix released a short video preview of his new anticipated single. The track originally comes from Dubvision and Garrix put his own bass heavy twist on it. The full track is set to be released on July 7.
