ADAM BEYER "TEACH ME" EP

With the majority of electronic music revolving around the house movement as of late, it can be hard to find the guys that stick out and help to make electronic music such a broad genre. Hailing from Sweden, Adam Beyer, arguably one of the figureheads of techno, has just released his brand new 4 track Teach Me EP. Listen below and head to his Soundcloud for more.

JAYDEN PARX & ZAXX - BILINGUAL

ELECTRONIC MUSIC BAN

Bad new Chicago, despite a history of some of the biggest acts in electronic music hitting the stage of Chicago's Congress Theater, pressure from neighbors of the club has forced them to ban electronic music shows.

As outlined in the agreement, this definition of electronic music is "music created by a DJ or multiple DJs primarily using specialized equipment and software instead of traditional instruments." It goes on to say that "Performers that incorporate electronic beats or prerecorded music in their acts shall be allowed, provided those performers either sing vocals or play an instrument(s) (or do both) during their performance."

The basis of the complaints seem to stem from the fans of the music, rather than the music itself. Neighbors have said the rabid use of drugs and alcohol by the concert-goers was the main concern, while others blame the owners of the venues themselves state that they "It's not the genre, it's the way the owner handles the genre."

This ban is one of the first for electronic music, coming off the heels of talks to ban the music at venues like Red Rocks and Ultra Music Festival. The ban seems it may be a slippery slope for the genre, but hopefully one that does not catch on.

STYLE OF EYE ALBUM RELEASE

Linus Eklow, better known as Style of Eye, has announced October 7th as the release date for his second full-length album, Footprints. Not defined by any genre as his Twitter states "music, not genre's" the album consists of a unique set of sounds mixed into every track. 2014 has been a busy year for Eklow as he has been involved in not only his own album production, but in a project in collaboration with Galantis.

With 12 new tracks there are plenty to choose from, but we've selected some of our favorites for you to listen to. Check out his full track list below and listen to his Soundcloud for more!

UP AND COMING - TOMB BOSS

Even with just 2 tracks up on his Soundcloud, we think Tomb Boss has something special. Hailing from Melbourne (surprise surprise) this guy has a masterful way of blending a little bit of indie, with a dash of new funk, all rolled up in the world of electronic music. His Soundcloud claims he is a future house savant, which, maybe we won't argue with. We also noticed when giving a quick scan through his Twitter, that back in April he made a mention of an EP, so Tomb Boss, we're waiting...

3DM MUSIC FESTIVAL

Over the past couple weeks we've told you about a couple brand new festivals that are re-defining what it means to go to an electronic music concert. There was the Safe in Sound Festival, touting the 150,000 watt sound system, and the Morning Gloryville rave cruises. Uping the ante again is the 3DM Music Festival, literally taking electronic music concerts to a new dimension. Unlike many of the festivals, it is a one day one-time concert taking place at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Rhode Island of all places. But don't let that fool you. Your senses will be taken on a ride even more than usual as "The 3DM concept employs the power of multiple screens secured above and all around a concert venue, such that the intensity of a light show literally envelops the room."

While there are no artist announcements yet, this is definitely something you don't want to miss out on if you are in the area. The show is November 1st and tickets are already available. $37 for general admissions and only $50 for VIP service that includes express entry and designated seating in an area of GA. Get them HERE.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - KIWI

Based out of London, Kiwi, otherwise known as Alex Warren, has been working over the past 12 months to create and produce a sound all his own. He has been on the road at festivals, highlighting and residing at night clubs, and working on remixes and collaborations, making for a busy 2014 schedule. Somehow, between all of this, he found a way to put out a brand new EP titled The Mara. The tracks lend themselves to a variety of genres but we appreciate the simplistic, easy listening that has become popular from Kiwi. As his style is so similar, it only makes sense that he remixes a track from Duke Dumont adding to his EP arsenal. Listen below and head to his Soundcloud for more!

DJ SHADOW - THE LIQUID AMBER EP

DJ Shadow has seeminlgy come out of the shadows to drop his brand new The Liquid Amber EP. Shadow sticks with his slow moving, liquid flowing version of funk and electronica. The EP features 3 tracks, one of which is a remix of "Six Days" by Machinedrum. Shadow has been one of our favorite DJs for years for tracks including "Six Days" "Building Steam With a Grain of Salt", and "Midnight in a Perfect World" which you can listen to on his Soundcloud.

MATT ZO EP

As promised, we've got Mat Zo's new The Up Down Left Right EP. In addition to the release, the new Label Mad Zoo we wrote about last week get's started today. Follow on their Twitter for all the info on releases.

MORNING RAVE CRUISES

Do you have a hard time getting up in the morning? Maybe you coffee and shower just aren't enough to get you going. If you live in New York, London, Sydney, or San Francisco, you have another option. Waiting for you in the harbor at 7:15 is a boat that will offer you a dance party, guided meditation, acro-yoga, and an assortment of health energy drinks and cacao beverages.

It is a brand new event hosted by an organization called Daybreaker in collaboration with Morning Gloryville. While there is certainly plenty of dancing and partying to take part in on the boat, the host says that it is more about embracing each day.

"'Rave your way into your day' is an immersive morning dance experience for those who dare to challenge morning culture and start their day in style! We're on a soul-shaking mission to turn clubbing upside down and transform mornings into something truly remarkable."

There is no alcohol served, but the massages are plentiful. Ticket prices vary depending on your time of arrival, you can choose from "Early birdie ravers", "cock-a-doodle-doo-ers" or "Phew!" And tickets are actually rather affordable for each, at $15, $18, or $20, respectively.

With the purchase of your ticket, you can expect to be greeted by your own "wake-up angel", a free wake-up massage station, superfood smoothie and juicebar, a coffee kiosk, and a motivation dance team. Check it out for yourself HERE.

MATT ZO STARTS MAD ZOO

It's an issue as old as digital music itself, do you pay for music to support the artist or do you give your wallet a break and shy away from paying 2.50 per song (looking at you Beatport). As the popularity of electronic music increases, so do the costs. Recently, Steve Angello, Afrojack, and Paul Oakenfold have spoken up against the rising costs, particularly in Ibiza, with single tickets costing in excess of $90. While many artists give out free downloads of their new tracks, the expenses for the average fan are becoming overwhelming.

Matt Zo may have a solution. The man is often outspoken about the issue of downloading music, and seems to have decided that enough is enough. He is starting Mad Zoo, a label where every release will be free. Can you imagine? He is starting it off by releasing his own The Up Down Left Right EP. It will be interesting to see how this works out and to see if it is a revolution in the industry and who will jump on board.

Check out Matt Zo's track with The Knocks that will be featured on his upcoming EP and head to his Soundcloud for more.

CASH CASH - LIGHTNING (SEX PANTHER REMIX)

Believe it or not, one of the favorite bands around here has nothing to do with electronic music, at least until John Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls teamed up with Cash Cash to put out their hit track "Lightning". The mellow, down to Earth original has gotten a house reboot from Sex Panthers. Give a listen below.

SIGHTLOW - THOT PROCESS

Coming from Denver ourselves, it is always nice to give support to a fellow Coloradoan. According to his Twitter, Sightlow is not only a DJ and producer, but a bacon connoisseur, part alien, and pro underwater basket weaver. Check out his newest track "Thot Process" then give a listen to his Soundcloud and follow him on Twitter!

SKRILLEX FALL TOUR

KNIFE PARTY TEASER

A while back we posted that Knife Party announced they had some tracks finalized for their next album and were working on mastering a few more. They just released a teaser for one of their new tracks titled "Boss Mode". The beginning of the track sticks with the huge bass and synth were accustomed to from Knife Party, however at the end you hear the introduction of a trap style to the mix, a sound we haven't heard from Knife Party. We definitely can't wait for the whole track and will keep you all updated when we know more!

TOMORROWLAND 2014 TOP TEN TRACKS

Some of us may remember the good ol' days when you had to rely on the radio to tell you what the name of a track was. Or maybe humming it to your friend. Fortunately, these days, there's an app for that. In case you've been living under a rock, Shazam is an app that, when a song is played, can detect and name said song for easy identification. They have recently released their top ten tracks of Tomorrowland 2014.

It is really no big surprise that the big room tracks from Spinnin' Records dominate the list, but there are also some newcomers to the big world of house including Zhu, Secondcity, and Netsky.

We've got the top 10 below starting with number 1!

CLASSIC - THE KNOCKS (FEATURING POWERS)

The highly anticipated single from The Knocks has finally been released on their Soundcloud. It sticks to their classicly laidback, nu-disco style while incorporating the use of lyricists Powers. Solid track.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - INGENIA

Composed of Jordi van Burgel and Wouter van den Boogaard, Ingenia hails from the Netherlands. And honestly, that is about all we can dig up about these guys. They say that you've "made it" as a music producer when you have your own wikipedia page, and while these guys may not have that yet, someone should start to look into it. Over the past few months they have released hit after hit, reaching for top spots in iTunes, Beatport, and EDM charts across the world. Listen to their stuff, check out their Soundcloud, and you'll understand why.

One of our favorite tracks by the duo is their remix of Cazzette's "Sleepless" which you can check out and vote for HERE.

ON REPEAT: I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE - ARMAND VAN HELDEN REMIX

The popularity of Sam Smith's album In the Lonely Hours has created a flurry of remix opportunities for producers. Steering away from the overrun world of  "Stay With Me" remixes, Armand Van Helden takes on Sam Smith's "I'm Not the Only One", putting in his own twist on both the vocals and synth hiding underneath. Listen below and check out his Soundcloud for more.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - THE WHITE PANDA

The White Panda was the result of childhood friends Tom Evans and Dan Griffith, who initially embarked on solo mash-up careers, joining forces and creating the mash-up masterpieces we hear today. Since forming in 2009, the guys gave had 27 singles reach the top spot on Hype Machine. After touring and sharing the stage with the likes of Mac Miller, Tiesto, Benny Benassi and more, the duo got to perform at Lollapalloza, Bamboozle, and Electric Zoo.

We love their ability to hear and combine the unique aspects of separate songs into one smooth flowing, jam worthy track. One of their latest tracks combines the superstars Disclosure and their vocals to Latch, with the 2010 hit Cooler Than Me from Mike Posner. Check it out below and listen to some of our favorites. Then listen to their Soundcloud radio show Panda Waves for more!

SAFE IN SOUND FESTIVAL

It's no secret that the world of music festivals has exploded over the past few years, evolving from a few thousand to over 300,000 people in just a few short years. Tomorrowland, arguably one of the world's best festivals, just celebrated it's 10th anniversary this year with 2 massive weekends and tickets selling out in under a minute. Electric Daisy Carnival has grown from a one-time one-city festival, to a worldwide event in 5 cities over 3 countries. With festivals now competing for fans, boasting 30 full-sized carnival rides, 6 stages, 450 theatrical performers, 150+ artists, and an 8 figure budget, how can new festivals make themselves stand out?

Enter the "Safe in Sound Festival". To make yourself stand out in the world of electronic music, you have to be different, and stand out this festival does. With a focus on the bass of electronic music, Safe in Sound will be bringing along a 150,000 watt rig, touted as the most "powerful touring sound system" ever used for electronic music. For comparison, Beta Nightclub, always in the top 5 for sound systems, employs just over 100,000 watts. This behemoth of a sound system will be traveling to 20 cities in its inaugural year with the artists to back it up. Some of the releases headliners include Flux Pavilion, Adventure Club, Zeds Dead, and Excision. Check below to see if they are coming to a city near you, then head to their website to get your tickets.

THE CHAINSMOKERS - KANYE

The Chainsmokers continue to come out with hit after hit. Their latest single, titled "Kanye", debuted today on Buzzfeed and Alex Pall explained that "We look at the word Kanye as an adjective. The song is about what it means to be like Kanye. It's just about owning it no matter what you're doing." The track is available exclusively through Buzzfeed which you can check out HERE.

ARTISIT HIGHLIGHT - TECHNIMATIC

If you take a look through Technimatic's bio, they declare their genre as simply drum & bass. While the music may fit the genre, there certainly seems to be a lot more going on in their tracks. Pete Rogers and Andy Powell were once Technicolour and Komatic, respectively, and merged together to create they rich bass heavy tracks we hear today. The duo has been making music in London together since 2008. Since signing with Shogun Audio the guys have been coming up with hit after hit and recently released their first full album "Desire Paths".  Listen to some of our favorite tracks below then get the full album HERE.

NEW DEFICIO

While we are on the topic of Deficio, he's just released a brand new melbourne bounce single. Check it out below and get the free download on his Soundcloud.
