BIGGEST GENRE INFLUENCE OF 2014

This year we saw the rise of diversifying genres, though some may argue they all fall under the same umbrella, there are clear distinctions in how different genres have emerged. If 2013 was the year of progressive house, then 2014 was by far the year of the Bounce Generation. The bounce track, originating down in Melbourne, Australia, is a progression of the up-tempo horn-infused dutch stylings, with incorporation of their own raucous horns.

If you need any example, check out one of the OGs of the genre, Will Sparks.

A close second in this category goes to Big Room. Particularly here in the states, the rising popularity of electronic clubs and festivals has given rise to the genre - taking the melody progression from house and combining it with the energy of electro-house and trance to create emotional build-ups, followed by an energetic, melodic drop (i.e. any Spinnin' Records release).

We expect next year to be the year of Deep House - get your vocal chords ready.

CHUCKIE & DIAMOND PISTOLS - BANG! FEAT. HYPER CRUSH

Chuckie is getting in on the latest trend in dance music, the bounce. And apparently it takes an army to make a track with this much of it. Chuckie teams up with Diamond Pistols and Hyper Crush to release what we can only image to be one of many bounce tracks coming from the king of dirty dutch. Listen below and get the track on Beatport.

ARTIST HIGLIGHT - DEFICIO

We think that Deficio is under-appreciated. Go ahead and Google him. The majority of hits will come up for with information on Martin "Deficio" Lynge - a professional League of Legends player.

Not our Deficio
That's not who we're talking about. We're talking about Deficio, the 20 year old Swedish producer who has come on the scene in a huge way considering his facebook says he only "gained interest in music production in 2011."

We see artists who wait for 10 years before being noticed for one single. Everything this guy puts out could be his new single. Give a listen to his original productions and remixes and you'll understand why. He is a master of a variety of generes and does not necessarily stick to just one like we see from many artists. Whether it is melbourne bounce, reggae bounce, house, or big room, he can do no wrong. The guy has remixed Beethoven! His tracks are those ones you hear blended into mixes at huge festivals and he tends to fly under the radar.  He announced to his 2,000 Twitter followers that he has a new two-track EP coming in September which we will be sure to update you on. Give a listen to a few of our favorite Deficio tracks then head to his Soundcloud for more.

SLICE N DICE - LET'S GO

Melbourne, Australia has gotten big into the EDM scene lately - so much so that there has been an entire sub-genre named after the hotspot. Slice N Dice is definitely starting to push to the forefront with their heavy bass and unique sounds but even so, googling them will bring up more sushi restaurants than music.

They've got some great stuff, so check them out at their Soundcloud.

THE REMIX CARTELL - SWEET DREAMS (SHAMELESS BOOTLEG)

If you're looking for some solid remixes of top 40 songs - both new and old - you've got to look for The Remix Cartell. They remix the original hits in the form of everything from Bigroom, to Dutch Style, to Melbourne Bounce.

This mix takes the Eurythmics "Sweet Dreams" and mixes in a solid Melbourne Bounce beat.

If you dig the beat, check out Shameless at his Soundcloud.
