FUNK FRIDAY

Today's Funk Friday we'll be checking out some nu-disco. Nu-disco obvious is a collaboration between disco era trends, including synth-heavy and P-funk, and electronic music. While the sub-genre has been around since the 70's and 80's, nu-disco has only been more mainstream recently with the stylings of groups like Daft Punk and Breakbot. Check out some of my favorite nu disco below.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - THE KNOCKS

The Knocks consist of B "B-Roc" Ruttner and James "JPatt" Patterson from New York City. The duo got their name from a time early in their career when neighbors would knock on their door for playing music too loudly. Since forming back in 2007, they have mixed for Katy Perry and Britney Spears, opened for Ellie Goulding, and shared the stage with Deadmau5, Skrillex, Tiesto, and more. NME Magazine has named "The Knocks" one of the "20 hottest producers in music".  Check out a couple of their singles below, then head over to their Soundcloud to hear more.

MICHAEL JACKSON - LOVE NEVER FELT SO GOOD (FEDDE LE GRAND REMIX)

Fedde Le Grand, despite his popular tracks, seems to be one of those DJs that continues to fly under the radar, but perhaps this track will help to change that. Michael Jackson's posthumous album "Xscape" was released this week and Le Grand had the opportunity to remix the single on the album. He does a great job of sticking to the origins of the song used by Jackson including the strings and disco elements of the track. Give it a listen below.
