The two take a jump back to 2010 to rework Skrillex's famed track  "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" with their own well-known future bass stylings. This isn't the first time SteLouse and Ahh-Ooh have worked together as their resumes both include the track "Intro Juice".

PRETTY LIGHTS GIVES AWAY 10 NEW TRACKS FOR FREE DOWNLOAD

Colorado native Pretty Lights, widely considered as on of the most innovative and exciting electronic music producers in the industry, has always been known for freely distributing every album and every track he has ever produced.

This generosity and innovation has continued into the year 2015 as he releases 10 brand new tracks, completely free for download, through one of his fans. While attending at this year's Jam Crusie, he met fan Cassie Blochinger, who proposed that he release tracks via his fans in order to get them more involved and engaged in the process.

Pretty Lights uploaded 10 tracks from his laptop to her harddrive and allowed her to release them on her own through Mediafire. You can stream the 10 tracks on thissongissick or download them HERE.

DISCOLSURE & ALUNAGEORGE SUED FOR THEFT AND COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT

Last year, both AlunaGeorge and Discolsure rose to fame through their hit tracks including "Latch", "White Noise", "You and Me", and "Attracting Flies", however it looks like they had some help.

Katie Farrah Sopher claims that she wrote the lyrics for these tracks stating that her songbook was "stolen by a violent ex-boyfriend, Sean Sawyers, in 2009". She is suing Disclosure and AlunaGeorge for 200,000 pounds (~$303,700), NME reports,

Sopher's testimony states that her songbook was then passed on to the music industry without her consent. Sawyers denies these claims stating "I am denying the allegations...There is zero truth to the claims made against me. I never saw the book the claimant mentions... [so] I could not have committed the alleged damages, theft, 9and) copyright infringement."

DADA LIFE THREATENED WITH LOST LAPTOP

It seems like Dada Life has some haters. In a series of Facebook posts and Tweets, an account calling themselves DadaDeath, confronts Dada Life about a lost laptop containing hours and hours of unreleased music. It seems serious, as Dada Life has responded to posts from the account, asking for them to return calls from the label.

*UPDATE*

DadaDeath plans to release new music from Dada Life tomorrow on their new Soundcloud.

RL GRIME DEBUT ALBUM - VOID

RL Grime (Henry Steinway) has released his debut album VOID today, featuring Big Sean and How to Dress Well. The album hosts 3 of his most recent and popular singles "Scylia", "Kingpin", and "Core", as well as "Reminder" and a previously unreleased track "Always", which deviates from his usual trap stylings. The down tempo track features more organic instrumentation, including the piano, and steers clear of the large buildups and drops, sticking to a consistent methodical base.

Grime does a great job of giving the album a consistent flow from one track to the next. As you fade out of "Always" and into "Scylia", the down tempo feeling continues, and slowly grows into what we know Grime for today, his big, in-your-face buildups and drops full of bass and snare. "Kingpin" sounds more like a hip-hop track infused with some trap stylings, rather than the reverse, as Big Sean takes over the track with his vocals overlaying the slow, hip-hop based beats. "Core", perhaps the track that has gotten Grime the most attention for this album, uses horns in the drops to give an ancient, almost ominous presence throughout the track, resulting in nearly 3 million plays on Soundcloud prior to the album ever being released. Finally, Grime moves away from his trap roots with the final track of the album "Reminder", featuring indie group How to Dress Well, perhaps making it the most unique to the album. Much like "Kingpin", the vocals in the track take over the song and and we again hear the piano used to fade out of the track, ending the album on the same note that it started.

Overall, it is a solid debut album for RL Grime, who has been making the rounds for years and producing successful bootlegs for artists like Rhianna, Chief Keef, and Kanye West. You can stream the full album below, but be sure t purchase it on iTunes and Spotify as well.

NEW RESTRICTIONS AT RED ROCKS AMPHITHEATER

This isn't the first time that EDM has been singled out and been sought to be toned down, if not banned, from performing at venues all across the country. Last year, Chicago's Congress Theater banned electronic music shows due to pressure from neighbors.

This time, Red Rocks Amphitheater, arguably one of the best venues in the country for any genre of music, and especially for electronic, has enacted new policies that may allow them to ban artists for going above certain thresholds. The Denver Post reported that, Tad Bowman, the venue Director for Red Rocks says "We know this is a hot topic. We've done a number of things to balance what you want with the fact that this is a business."

Complaints have risen from residents of the small town of Morrison, CO, singling out EDM specifically, saying that shows are going on too long and are too loud. In response, in 2013, organizers implemented a "ceiling" that artists are prohibited from exceeding throughout their entire set; this includes a maximum for bass frequencies, commonly much higher for EDM shows. These restrictions were initially applied to only late night shows, however in 2015, all shows will be required to adhere to these limits, with the newly enacted clause stating that artists can be banned for any subsequent tour dates in the same year for any violation.

These limits will be put to the test this year with the continued rise in the popularity of not only EDM, but of Red Rocks, which is seeing more festivals and tour stops than ever before. Already signed up to tour this coming season are CO natives Pretty Lights and Big Gigantic, as well as Major Lazer and Damien "Jr.Gong" Marley, and of course Global Dance and Global Dub Festivals.

Music fans are fighting back, though.  A petition, which you can sign HERE, is asking "the city of Morrison, Colorado to remove noise restrictions on Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater, as they hamper the musical experience of all concertgoers at the venue, and unfairly target Electronic Dance Music Events." As of 1/10/15, the petition has 5,933 supporters.

COACHELLA 2015 LINEUP

April 17-19 with AC/DC, Jack White, and Drake headlining both weekends Friday through Sunday. Some newer acts that we are excited to see amongst the smorgasbord of talent include, Odesza, Gorgon City, and Clean Bandit.

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - JAY KARAMA

Though he may reside in Sydney, Jay Karama is adopting the Melbourne Bounce movement and making it all his own. His most popular track "Skateboard" has been picked up by bounce artists including TJR, Slice N Dice, and Hardwell, and features the classic Melbourne buildup and drop but with a unique twist. What makes Jay's bounce different is his fusion of hip-hop and rap elements in his tracks.  Heard in several of his tracks is the slowed down, almost spoken word vocals layed over his bass and synth. "Disco" one of his most recent tracks, has made the tough climb up the Beatport charts, capping at number 21. Even with the success of his tracks, he is continuing to offer several of his tracks for FREE DOWNLOAD, so listen below and check out more from his Soundcloud.
